In the film, engineer Alec Bailey (Oliver Jackson-Cohen) lives in London and tries unsuccessfully to make a living by repairing appliances, but his financial situation is getting worse. Unexpectedly, comes Raymond Heacock (Jonathan Pryce), an unknown uncle who proposes to pay off all debts, as long as Alec moves to a small town in Nova Scotia, Canada, for at least a year. Suspicious, but without many options, he accepts his uncle’s proposal and begins an incredible journey of discovery, learning, and redemption. It all starts when he meets Cecilia (Camilla Luddington), the city veterinarian. She volunteers to make an attractive, two-way ad to offer Alec’s work, prompting locals to believe he has the gift of healing.
